Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOB IN NEW ORLEANS

Because our nose is the most prominent feature on our face, we focus more on its flaws than on its positive traits. At New Orleans Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, we see many patients who come to us with slight cosmetic irregularities of the nose. These flaws often impact their overall facial aesthetics and can have a negative effect on their self-esteem.

Rhinoplasty (commonly known as a “nose job”) is a surgical procedure, which corrects cosmetic issues and functional concerns with the nose. It is effective in reconstructing nose size, shape, and contour as well as improving nose functions like breathing. Many patients benefit with this surgery, but others are hesitant because it is major surgery. They look for less invasive, more convenient procedures to improve their nose and facial appearance.

Cosmetic medicine has advanced techniques using injectable fillers to improve the contours of the nose without requiring surgery. At New Orleans Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, we offer nonsurgical rhinoplasty to help patients get the results they seek with a fifteen-minute procedure.

Dr. Velargo is recognized internationally as an expert on performing the non-surgical nose job. When it comes to injectables, he is at the forefront of the most innovative methodology, most recently presenting his non-surgical rhinoplasty techniques at the IMCAS congress in Paris, France.  Dr. Velargo is a well-respected authority on non-surgical rhinoplasty, both locally and nationally.

WHAT IS A NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOB?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a procedure that involves the use of dermal fillers and neurotoxins (e.g. Botox®, Dysport®) to correct minor cosmetic concerns with the nose. Board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Parker Velargo uses soft tissue fillers to correct minor aesthetic flaws, fill voids, and create the illusion of structural alterations to improve the patient’s nose appearance.  The toxin is used to inhibit muscles that pull the nasal tip downward, which in combination with fillers can create a more aesthetically positioned nasal tip.

The dermal fillers are temporary, so touch up treatments are necessary to maintain results. However, many patients enjoy the convenience over invasive surgery and extensive recovery. Others use this temporary procedure as a test run for the permanent rhinoplasty results.

THE BENEFITS OF A NON-SURGICAL NOSE JOB

The main benefit of non-surgical rhinoplasty over the traditional procedure is it requires no surgery or downtime. A traditional surgical nose job involves swelling which can take several months to a year to fully subside and involves a more invasive approach at a higher cost.

Patients not ready to commit to surgery but who want to improve nasal aesthetics can benefit from a non-surgical nose job. The procedure can smooth out a hump on the bridge, fix an S-curved nose, and improve a drooping tip. A non-surgical nose job has much of the same psychological benefits of surgery, with many patients experiencing a boost in self-confidence following the treatment.

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY?

Suitable candidates for a non-surgical nose job are patients in good health who want to make minor cosmetic improvements to their nose. They are also patients not interested in surgery at this time or cannot undergo surgery because of specific safety concerns.

However, patients who require significant correction for aesthetic or functional purposes may be better served with the surgical rhinoplasty. Also, patients who need improvement with nasal passage or function are not good candidates for a non-surgical nose job.

NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY FAQS

A non-surgical nose job is very straightforward. First, Dr. Velargo uses a topical anesthetic cream before the treatment to ensure your comfort. Next, he injects carefully considered dermal fillers like RHA or Restylane to reduce the appearance of cosmetic flaws on the nose. These fillers are discussed during your consultation.

The injections are quick. You will be able to see most of your results immediately and can return to your normal routine after you leave the office.

Dr. Velargo always plans on a 2 week touch up so that any irregularities that are masked by swelling can be corrected at this visit.

Because a non-surgical nose job is minimally invasive, patients can get back to their normal routine when they leave the office. Effects may include some bruising, swelling, or tenderness, but they subside quickly. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a great option for patients with busy schedules because of its convenience, quick results, and no downtime.

The duration of the results depends on the filler used. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane usually last for about a year in the nose. Eventually, dermal fillers absorb naturally, and a follow-up procedure is necessary.

Because structural correction requires surgery, a non-surgical nose job cannot address major humps, crookedness, or functional concerns. These issues will require surgical rhinoplasty.

Although injections can be painful, the process is short and over quickly. A topical anesthetic will be administered before treatment to reduce any discomfort. We also offer laughing gas as additional measure to ensure minimal pain.

Yes, once the fillers are absorbed fully or we dissolve them with hyaluronidase, you can move forward with a surgical rhinoplasty. The nonsurgical nose job is a great way to see if your new look is what you want before choosing surgery.

Although the procedure is safe, there may be some bruising, tenderness, redness or swelling after treatment. Other very rare risks will be discussed prior to your treatment.
