SCULPTRA AESTHETIC AT NEW ORLEANS CENTER FOR AESTHETICS AND PLASTIC SURGERY

The development of fine lines and wrinkles is the most frequently cited concern for patients entering their 40s, 50s and later years.

As we age, our body and skin begin to slow the production of specific proteins that are essential to the structural integrity of skin cells. When we lose these proteins, particularly one called collagen, our skin loses its elastic quality and the youthful snap as it returns to a smooth surface.

Now, thanks to a revolutionary FDA-approved injectable called Sculptra Aesthetic, clinics such as the New Orleans Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery can help their patients treat wrinkles and fine lines for years into the future.

WHAT IS SCULPTRA?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable product that stimulates collagen production within your skin. Sculptra treats the underlying cause of facial aging, whereas other, more traditional procedures treat the symptoms.

While traditional injectables such as Botox or Dysport or dermal fillers like Juvéderm and Radiesse can eliminate wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for wrinkles or adding volume to the areas underneath the skin, they do not stimulate collagen production for long-lasting results. Nonetheless, for some patients who are experiencing exaggerated forehead wrinkles or fine lines around their mouth, these treatments are the ideal solution to their problems.

Other treatments, such as PRP microneedling, can temporarily stimulate collagen production, but not to the level Sculptra can.

HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?

Sculptra works by stimulating collagen growth and production to levels patients naturally experience during their early 20s. Doing so helps the skin maintain its structural integrity and keep a smooth, wrinkle-free appearance.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SCULPTRA?

If you are experiencing unwanted signs of aging – such as prominent nasolabial folds, marionette lines and chin wrinkles – in the lower two-thirds of your face, Sculptra might be the perfect solution for you.

While many patients might get temporary satisfactory results from injectables and dermal fillers, anyone wanting a longer-lasting solution to their facial aging concerns may wish to try Sculptra.

Ideal candidates for Sculptra are patients who lead a healthy lifestyle, do not have any risk factors in their health history, and have realistic expectations for what the procedure can achieve for them.

The results from Sculptra occur gradually and subtly, making it less obvious to others that you’ve had any aesthetic intervention.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER MY SCULPTRA TREATMENT?

Understanding the Sculptra procedure and what to expect will help you get the most out of your treatment.

Before

Leading up to your Sculptra treatment, you’ll have an in-depth discussion with a member of our expert team at NOLA.

During your consultation, you’ll take a deep dive into your concerns regarding your appearance, why they are bothering you, and why you want to fix them. Having a clear-cut idea of what you want to achieve with aesthetic treatments is paramount to choosing the correct procedure and getting the desired results.

Once you and your specialist decide that Sculptra is indeed the procedure for you, your provider will tell you how many vials of the injectable you’ll need to get the results you desire. Then, once you’ve got a plan in place, you’ll set a date for your treatment.

During

Sculptra is a non-invasive procedure, and the treatment doesn’t take long at all.

Depending on the number of injections you require to get the results you desire, your treatment might take between 15 and 45 minutes.

After

Sculptra’s minimally invasive nature means you won’t require any downtime following the procedure. You’ll be able to return to your routine as usual; however, we recommend avoiding any intense physical exercise for 48 hours following the treatment.

Sculptra results appear gradually and continue to improve for up to 24 months after the treatment. As such, you should expect to notice results after four to six weeks.

SCULPTRA FAQS

There is no recovery necessary from the Sculptra treatment. Results will begin to appear four to six weeks after initial treatment and can last more than two years.

Since you should only get Sculptra injections from a trained specialist, you might need to travel to a different city to find a clinic that offers the procedure. In such cases, you’ll be glad to learn traveling after your treatment is not a problem.

Like any treatment, there are risks inherently involved with Sculptra.

These include:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness
  • Injection site pain
  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Itching and lumps

Most of these symptoms arise when a patient is allergic to some of the ingredients included in the Sculptra formula. Therefore, having a candid consultation with your provider before getting the treatment is essential to the procedure’s success and safety.

Sculptra might cause vascular occlusion, infarction, or embolic phenomena when mistakenly introduced into the blood vessels. That’s why it’s essential to only receive Sculptra injections from trained, qualified, and certified providers.

Sculptra injections take between 15 and 45 minutes. The number of injections required to get your desired results will affect the procedure duration.

You might need three or four sessions to get the results you want with Sculptra. After each session, you must wait several weeks until the results begin to manifest. If you’re not satisfied with the extent of changes after two months, you can consider subsequent rounds of injections.

However, in most cases, patients enjoy the best results from one round of injections in a single treatment.

The average cost of a Sculptra session is $1,500. The number of sessions required will depend on the patient and the desired outcomes.
