BOTOX® AND NEUROMODULATOR WRINKLE TREATMENTS NEW ORLEANS

Though wrinkles like crow’s feet and brow furrows can add character to your face, you may feel they give you a prematurely aged, overly tired appearance. Neuromodulators are a minimally invasive way to turn back the clock. The New Orleans Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery offers Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau®. Our expertly trained team uses these products to provide natural-looking results tailored to your unique needs and concerns.

WHAT ARE NEUROMODULATORS?

Neuromodulators target the underlying causes of fine lines and dynamic wrinkles. These injections contain a purified version of botulinum toxin, which works by blocking nerve signals to specific muscles that allow you to do things like frowning and squinting. The temporary benefit is a smoother, more youthful appearance that helps you feel more confident and refreshed.

What differentiates neuromodulators from other injectable treatments, such as dermal fillers, is their ability to address wrinkles that form in response to repetitive facial expressions. By relaxing the muscles, neuromodulators can smooth existing lines and prevent new ones from forming, providing a preventive approach to anti-aging.

XEOMIN VS. BOTOX VS. DYSPORT VS. JEUVEAU – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Neuromodulator wrinkle treatments are excellent at smoothing fine lines, but subtle differences in formulation, potency, and longevity can influence which option you choose. Understanding their unique qualities and consulting with our knowledgeable injectors can help you make an informed choice for natural, refreshed results.

Botox is the world’s best-known neuromodulator. It has an excellent safety profile, backed by over two decades of research. Botox has earned FDA approval for treating moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and vertical neck bands.

Dysport is another highly effective neuromodulator that has gained popularity in the U.S. after many years of popularity in Europe. Dysport has the same active ingredient as Botox but is more diluted, which means it tends to spread to a wider area. This quality can be advantageous when addressing larger treatment areas, such as your forehead. Dysport may also take effect slightly faster than Botox, with results visible in as little as 24 to 48 hours.

Xeomin is chemically identical to Botox and Dysport, though Xeomin undergoes extra purification to eliminate accessory proteins. It’s a good choice for people who have developed antibodies to other neuromodulators because it can offer a different experience with longer-lasting results.

Jeuveau is the newest FDA-approved neuromodulator on the market, specifically developed for aesthetic use in treating frown lines. It also uses the same active ingredient as Botox, but with a unique manufacturing process, resulting in a slightly different molecule. It provides quick results, with some patients seeing improvements in as little as two to three days.

WHAT CAN NEUROMODULATORS TREAT?

Neuromodulator injections are versatile enough to address multiple concerns:

  • Dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet
  • “Smoker’s lines” around your lips
  • Vertical neck banding
  • Masseter muscle reduction, slimming your lower face and jawline and reducing teeth grinding and jaw tension
  • Excessive gum tissue that shows when you smile

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT

During your first visit, an expert injector will assess your unique needs and create a customized treatment plan. We take a conservative, less-is-more approach to ensure natural-looking results that enhance your features without creating an overdone appearance.

The injection process is quick and relatively comfortable, taking anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, depending on what you want to target. You may feel a slight pinch as we use a fine needle to inject the product into the targeted muscles. You may request a topical numbing cream beforehand to ensure your comfort.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS, AND HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?

The results from neuromodulator injections are not immediate. You can typically expect to see the full effects within about two weeks. However, with Jeuveau and Dysport, you may notice visible improvements in as little as two to three days, which is excellent if you need a quick boost. Results typically last anywhere from three to six months, and many patients prolong their youth with regular touch-up treatments.

We recommend maintenance injections every three to six months to maintain your desired results. Many patients choose regular touch-up appointments to enjoy long-lasting smoothness.

Absolutely! Neuromodulators work well in conjunction with dermal fillers, which add volume and contour to the face. Combining these treatments in a “liquid facelift” can provide a more comprehensive approach to addressing the signs of aging and enhancing your natural features.

Side effects are typically mild and may include redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites. These usually resolve within a few days. There is minimal downtime associated with neuromodulator injections, and you can resume most normal activities immediately. However, we recommend avoiding excessive sun exposure and strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after your treatment.
