Restylane Lyft is a dermal filler that lifts the mid-face instantly. A smooth gel that glides easily under the skin over the cheek bone, this facial filler is made of hyaluronic acid, a carbohydrate that is already present in the body.
Hyaluronic acid works by providing a framework to the skin by binding collagen and elastin together, then attracting water, for an overall anti-aging effect. Because the Restylane Lyft gel has properties that provide strength, it serves as great support for the midfacial soft tissue and helps to restore the soft tissue of the midface to its native location.
Restylane Lyft adds volume where it has been lost and is injected deeper into the tissue of the midface (among other places) for volume replacement and the creation of a volume foundation. Its sister product, Restylane, is used more superficially to fill wrinkles and hollows. Restylane Lyft, previously known as Perlane, is the latest filler from the Restylane family that has been FDA approved for augmenting the cheeks and lifting the lower and mid-face.

Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick are both trained and skilled injectors who use facial fillers both medically and artistically, much like a sculptor, to provide you with a natural younger look. This requires the ability to determine the best areas for injections and how much filler should be used.
Other facial fillers include Juvéderm, Juvéderm Voluma, Restylane, Radiesse, and Belotero. Drs. Velargo and Hendrick may suggest that you use a combination of injectables, including Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin to target more of the lines and wrinkles that are present. If surgery is necessary to achieve the result you want, they might recommend a face lift, neck lift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). Skin resurfacing can also help to smooth certain lines and wrinkles.
What can Restylane Lyft accomplish?
Restylane Lyft is ideal to correct:
- Flattened cheeks, restoring a youthful contour to the midface
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Wrinkles around the cheeks
What happens during Restylane Lyft injections?
A tiny needle is used for the injections, and the procedure takes less than 30 minutes. Lidocaine is contained in the injection formula in order to ease discomfort. Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick are believers in cool compress anesthesia, as well as acupressure techniques to make the injections as comfortable as possible.
If you wish, we will be happy to apply a topical numbing cream before your injections. If you do desire the numbing cream, we ask that you arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment so that it can take effect before the procedure. We have a very comfortable and relaxing “Quiet Room” within the clinic for your enjoyment.
After your injections, you can go home or relax in the Quiet Room for as long as you like.
The results are visible immediately and will continue to show some improvement over the course of days as the product attracts water.
What can I expect during recovery from Restylane Lyft injections?
You can proceed with most of your activities, including returning to work, after you leave our office following injections with fillers. Most patients experience some minimal swelling, bruising, and soreness for a few days. You can cover any discoloration with makeup, apply cool compresses to reduce the inflammation, and apply topical Arnica Montana to speed the resorption of any bruising.
How long do the results of Restylane Lyft last?
Restylane Lyft injections last approximately 9-12 months, although some people have seen the results last longer.
In any case, the product stimulates the production of collagen in the skin, so less product may be needed for a similar result in subsequent maintenance injections.
