NEW ORLEANS BREAST LIFT FAQS
Post-operatively, you will experience some tightness, swelling, bruising, and soreness. These symptoms will gradually subside in the weeks following your surgery. Dr. Hendrick will prescribe pain medication to help with any discomfort you experience, and you will have a custom-fitted support bra after your surgery, which you must wear for several weeks.
Care for your incisions by cleaning them with mild soap and water. Dr. Hendrick will remove any external stitches during a post-operative examination.
Most patients take a week to 10 days off from work after a breast lift. Do not do strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for four to six weeks. Be sure to always discuss activity restrictions with Dr. Hendrick to avoid complications after surgery.
We will provide a complete set of post-operative instructions before your surgery. Feel free to ask any questions during your pre-operative visit.
Breast lifts typically have long-lasting results, but aging, weight changes, and pregnancy can all cause some subsequent sagging of the breast tissue. For the most enduring results, it’s best to wait until you finish having children and know you can maintain a stable weight after your breast lift procedure.
Since mastopexy is an elective cosmetic procedure, insurance plans generally do not cover it. Check with your insurer to understand your plan’s specific details.
Yes. A combination breast lift and augmentation may be the solution if you want to correct sagging and increase your breasts’ volume. We can help you decide if this is the right option when you consult with us.
Dr. Hendrick makes breast lift incisions where your breasts’ natural contours will conceal the resulting scars. Depending on your procedure, these might be around the edges of the areolas, along the folds below your breasts, or in a vertical line from the bottoms of the areolas to the folds below the breasts. We do everything possible to minimize visible scarring and will discuss incision placement during your consultation.
It’s best to wait until you finish growing your family before getting a breast lift, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can change your breasts’ size and shape and cause new sagging. If you have children after your breast lift, there’s a slight chance the surgery will affect your breastfeeding ability. If this concerns you, you should raise it in your consultation with Dr. Hendrick.
