MEET DR. RUSSELL HENDRICK
Dr. Russell Hendrick is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the breasts and body, as well as non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Dr. Hendrick’s signature plastic surgery procedures include breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and mommy makeover. With his extensive training, Dr. Hendrick prides himself on being able to focus his expertise on these areas to address the patient’s specific needs. His philosophy on patient care is centered on taking the time to truly listen to his patients and their concerns and develop a treatment plan specifically tailored to the individual.
Dr. Hendrick graduated from Brother Martin High School in 1997. From there, he attended the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he received both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Natural Sciences degrees. He then attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. During his senior year, Dr. Hendrick was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for his academic achievements. In addition, Dr. Hendrick received the Norma C. Ragland Award, which recognized him as one of the top four medical students in his graduating class.
Dr. Hendrick enjoyed understanding the anatomy of the human body and found interest in the intricacies and attention to detail found in plastic surgery. His strong work ethic, superior academic achievements, and driven personality allowed his to successfully match into the most competitive field of medical-training. Dr. Hendrick continued his training at the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
During his training, he completed three years of residency training in General Surgery, followed by two years of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Hendrick received training in all areas of plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, including pediatrics. In his chief year, he was awarded the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Resident of the Year Award for his compassion to patients and their families as well as his dedication to the field of plastic surgery. During his training, Dr. Hendrick was particularly drawn to the hand and upper extremity. He enjoyed the mechanics and functionality along with precision required to perform hand surgery. After completing his Plastic Reconstructive residency, he then elected to continue his training in hand and microsurgery, completing a one year fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX under the direction of the world-renown plastic reconstructive hand surgeon, Dr. David T. Netscher.
On a personal note, Dr. Hendrick and his wife, Dane, both New Orleans natives, enjoy spending time with their three children, Russell Anthony, Marian, and Genevieve. Together they enjoy relaxing amongst family and friends, traveling, cooking, and cheering on the Tigers and Saints.
