MEET DR. CELESTE C. GARY
Dr. Celeste C. Gary is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon. Dr. Gary is a specialist in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the face, nose, eyelids, ears, and neck in the New Orleans area. In addition, Dr. Gary has extensive experience in non-surgical treatments of the face and neck, including injectables and laser therapy. Dr. Gary’s signature facial plastic surgery procedures include facelift, rhinoplasty and eyelid surgery.
Dr. Gary graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana State University and attended Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where she graduated in the top quartile of her medical school class.
Dr. Gary discovered her love for procedures during medical school and decided on Head & Neck Surgery because of her love for complex head and neck anatomy. After medical school, she trained in Head & Neck Surgery at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center- New Orleans. During her five years of residency, Dr. Gary continued her love for complex head and neck anatomy and developed a deep appreciation for facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Following her Head & Neck Surgery residency, Dr. Gary completed a rigorous American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery fellowship program under the mentorship of Dr Jonathan Sykes, a world renowned facial plastic surgeon and dedicated surgical anatomist.
During her fellowship, she was exposed to extensive training in all aspects of facial plastic surgery including rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, cosmetic surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation, reconstructive facial surgery, Mohs reconstruction for skin cancer, facial trauma management, microtia repair, cleft surgery and facial reanimation procedures. Her fellowship was rounded off with additional mentoring from another emerging leader in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Travis Tollefson. During this year-long fellowship devoted exclusively to cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and neck, Dr. Gary mastered a wide spectrum of surgical techniques and procedures. Dr. Gary’s experience during her fellowship year also included service to the VA in Mather, CA, a cleft mission to China, and helping her mentor, Dr Jonathan Sykes with cadaver dissections for injectables courses.
Since completion of her fellowship, Dr Gary has held a Clinical Assistant Professor position with LSU Health New Orleans Department of Otolaryngology. This has allowed her to continue her love for anatomy and clinical teaching with medical students and residents.
Dr. Gary is an internationally published expert that has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. She also serves on committees for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has been a presenter at numerous national meetings on topics related to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Gary and her partner, Louis, enjoy music, food, and most of all festival season. Dr Gary has a deep connection to her Cajun roots having grown up in New Iberia, Louisiana. They have two children who they enjoy bringing up as New Orleans-Cajun hybrids. In their free time they can be found cheering on the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, growing vegetables in the yard of their Bayou St John home, and enjoying live music around town.
